The Government Relations Associate will be responsible for focusing on state advocacy and policy. In this role, the Government Relations Associate will support our government relations efforts at the state level, building relationships with key policymakers and staff, advocating for legislative priorities, and monitoring state-level developments that impact the company.

This role will be supporting our North East states so we are looking for someone who is located in eastern time.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Assist in executing state advocacy strategies to influence legislative and regulatory decisions that align with the company’s priorities.
  2. Track and analyze relevant state legislation, regulations, and executive actions. Provide timely updates to leadership and internal stakeholders on key policy developments.
  3. Cultivate and maintain relationships with key state policymakers, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure LC’s interests are represented effectively.
  4. Conduct in-depth research on state policy issues, legislative trends, and political dynamics. Provide insights to help guide advocacy strategies and policy positions.
  5. Draft clear and compelling communications such as talking points, testimony, and policy briefs. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging. Represent the company before external audiences.
  6. Work with industry groups, coalitions, and other stakeholders to build alliances that support shared policy goals.
  7. Ensure compliance with state lobbying laws and regulations. Provide regular reports on advocacy activities.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, public relations, education or related field required.
  • 3+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, or a related field, with a focus on state-level advocacy and legislative processes.
  • Experience in early childhood education, education, healthcare, energy, or another highly regulated sector preferred.

  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to distill complex issues into clear recommendations.
  • Ability to work with strong attention to detail and in accordance with state lobbying laws and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, industry groups, and internal teams.
  • Capable of working independently with a proactive mindset, effectively managing multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with advocacy tools is a plus.

 

Travel:
Up to 25%

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation based on position, education and experience. Bi-weekly paid. 
    • $71,500-80,000 base salary.
    • This position is also eligible for our Support Central bonus program which is based on annual achievement of company performance.

  • This position is eligible for paid time off.  All Corporate employees are enrolled in our Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) plan.  This plan allows for flexibility and discretion between employees and managers in taking time off - with no set accrual for vacation or sick time.
