The Security Architect will create, plan and implement security solutions across the Learning Care Group IT landscape. They are responsible for reviewing current security practices, recommending enhancements, identifying weaknesses, creating standards, and responding promptly to potential security issues.


Essential Functions:

  • Design, build and implement enterprise-class security systems.
  • Align standards, frameworks and security with overall business and technology strategy.
  • Identify and communicate current and emerging security threats.  
  • Design security architecture elements to mitigate threats as they emerge.
  • Identify security design gaps in existing and proposed architectures and recommend changes or enhancements.
  • Develop, review, and approve the installation requirements for LANs, WANs, VPNs, routers, firewalls, and related network devices.
  • Plan, research, and design security architectures.
  • Establish disaster recovery procedures and conduct security breach drills.
  • Consult and provide guidance on major security incidents and provide post-event analyses.
  • Monitor and guide the security team, cultivating a sense of security awareness, and arranging for continuous education.
  • Remain up to date with the latest security systems, standards, and products.
  • Verify security systems by developing and implementing test scripts.


Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Security+, CISSP, CISM, etc. certifications; preferred.


Other Skills and Abilities Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in information security and/or IT risk management with a focus on security, performance and reliability
  • Solid understanding of security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization and security
  • Good working knowledge of current IT risks and experience implementing security solutions
  • Experience implementing multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, identity management and related technologies utilizing Microsoft Azure AD and Okta
  • Ability to interact with a broad cross-section of personnel to explain and enforce security measures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as business acumen and a commercial outlook
  • Excellent customer service and follow-up skills with both internal and external customers.
  • Capable of working with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Proficient time management, organizational skills and ability to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to operate with little instruction on day to day work and general instructions on new assignments.
  • Creative problem-solving skills. Ability to think “out of the box” and apply nontraditional solutions to challenging issues.
  • Ability to write reports, test plans and scripts, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Experience creating and documenting work processes and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
